What we do

Currently we are concentrating on 3 areas of work. These are:

Funding

To date we have helped raised over £19 million that has been used to work with excluded groups and people in Greater Manchester, The West Midlands, West Yorkshire and North Wales.

With many project partners Nornir staff have made successful bids to UK funders including the Big Lottery Reaching Communities, Esmee Fairbairn and Awards for All. We also have a significant experience and knowledge of the various EU funding strands.

Project Management

Nornir spent time helping organisations improve their capacity to manage themselves in particular through the deployment of new technologies.

Shared resources

We are currently developing the tool s that will allow the voluntary sector youth services to report their outputs and outcomes to the local authority on line. Such tools exist at a corporate level but renting a whole server and paying for the development of a system is beyond all small organisations.

But Nornir is creating tools that are shared by lots of organisations and this brings the costs down to a level where even the smallest group can benefit. This is a process that utilises the concept of “shared resources” to help the smaller groups benefit from technology that is currently only available commercially or to larger organisations.

Website Design / Development

We develop web sites and web tools for third sector organisations that are designed to keep costs down and build the capacity of small groups to manage their own IT needs.

Again this is utilising the technique of shared resources to help the smaller groups benefit from technology that is currently only available commercially or to larger organisations.
